ARNALDO RICCIARDI (born 1954 in Italy) studied painting at the School of Arts and Crafts in Lugano. Ricciardi creates abstract paintings in which color is the primary means of expression. In his works, colors evolve gradually and with great subtlety, allowing the viewer to experience their development and transformation directly. Most of his paintings are dominated by a single color that overlays and partially conceals the underlying color fields, depending on its transparency and intensity.
Along the edges of the canvas, the genesis and layering of the paint application remain visible, making the creative process traceable. Toward the center, however, the dominant color field expands. As the underlying layers of color shimmer through, a diffuse and constantly shifting chromatic quality emerges, creating a powerful atmospheric effect that invites a wide range of personal interpretations.
