Villard Jean

JEAN VILLARDs (*1994 in Biel) artistic practice focuses primarily on painting and operates in the tension between abstraction and figuration.
In his works, Villard explores color, form, and pictorial space in an intuitive yet structured manner. Characteristic features include layered applications of paint, reduced and often open compositions, and a sensitive interplay of rhythm and tension. His works arise less from narrative intentions than from a painterly process in which perception, memory, and materiality take center stage.
JEAN VILLARD’s works are regularly presented in exhibitions and form part of contemporary Swiss art positions distinguished by restraint, precision, and a strong painterly presence.
