The German-French artist ERIC DECASTRO (*1960 in Burgundy, F) studied art with Prof. Markus Lüpertz at the Kunstakademie Kolbermoor in Bavaria. His works are shown in galleries and museums worldwide. In 2023, exhibitions are planned in Peru and Mexico, among other places. He is also represented in the largest collections in Germany, the USA and South America.
Decastro devoted himself to figurative painting for more than 20 years. After an encounter with the Austrian artist Hermann Nitsch in 2008, he ventured into the various facets of abstraction, which he increasingly sought to integrate into his own materials.
Thematically, Decastro is concerned with the theme of transience. "The viewer is drawn into a colourful and poetic cosmos that is deliberately designed to give the illusion of landscapes or outdoor spaces. The meditative qualities of his works ensure that the viewer becomes immersed in the painting and he feels a state of inner peace."
