Helga Queen

Due to his extraordinary talent Mongi Higgs (*1963 in Reutlingen) was admitted to the Academy for Graphic Arts in Munich even though he did not have a formal higher education entrance qualification.
Higgs initially worked as a Creative Director in renowned German advertising agencies. Later, he founded his own communications consultancy. The conceptual reflections and life based references in his artistic work have their origins in this phase of his professional life.

Since 2009, Mongi Higgs has again been intensively dedicated to fine art. This was followed by numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Germany and abroad. In dialogue with Markus Lüpertz—under whom he studied for a period—he deepened his painterly practice.
The figurative painting forms the core of his work. Central to his artistic concern is always the human being—as a fragile, contradictory, and searching existence. His work often explores the human condition through expressive figurative imagery and existential themes.
