Beate Schroedl-Baurmeister (*1953) grew up in Bamberg and studied sculpture in Stuttgart and Berlin. At the Biennale for Contemporary Art in Florence in 2003, she was awarded the ‘Lorenz il Magnifico’ sculpture prize. She designed the sculpture ‘Schwung’ (Momentum), which has been presented annually since 2003 to the winners of the Wuppertal Business Award. She is internationally renowned for her abstract stainless steel sculptures, some of which are six metres high. She lives and works in Wuppertal, Germany.
